Hello friends!! So I decided to start a new segment on the blog called “Recent Geeky Purchases” Every other week I’ll make a post about the geeky things that I’ve been coveting, that I finally bought (woot woot)! And being that living in Southern California costs an arm and a leg, it will mostly be a handful of items under $25. I got some good stuff, and it’s a bit more than I normally get.. but it’s been a tough few weeks, and needed a bit of retail therapy. Enjoy!
1. Vampire Slayer Necklace @ Geek Studios – $12.00
I currently have an obsession with nerdy girly accessories. A few paychecks ago I got myself an awesome little Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix – Vol. 1 Pendant, I also got myself a really awesome Supernatural Leather Charm Bracelet and before that I got this really adorable set of Batman hair bows. Oh, and check out the other awesome necklace I got…
3. Girls Just Want to Have Fundamental Rights T-Shirt @ Look Human – $23.00
I’ve been wanting this shirt for a while now. It was hard to choose between this one, and one that said “I hope you like Feminist rants because that’s kind of my thing.” I decided to get this one because it was a little bit more fun. Maybe I’ll get the other one in a few weeks.. 🙂
4. A Match Made In Space: A Journal Back from the Future @ Amazon – $8.99
Alex’s brother got himself this a few weeks ago, and the moment he saw it, Alex wanted it. So even though this technically isn’t mine, it will go in our house on display and that’s cool.
5. The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy: A Handbook for Girl Geeks @ Amazon – $11.50
My friend Tammy found this book at Vroman’s (a local book store) last week, and texted me the moment she read the back of it, knowing full well it had my name written all over it. After looking into it a bit more, I totally have a crush on Sam Maggs now.
Fanfic, cosplay, cons, books, memes, podcasts, vlogs, OTPs and RPGs and MMOs and more—it’s never been a better time to be a girl geek. The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy is the ultimate handbook for ladies living the nerdy life, a fun and feminist take on the often male-dominated world of geekdom. With delightful illustrations and an unabashed love for all the in(ternet)s and outs of geek culture, this book is packed with tips, playthroughs, and cheat codes, including: How to make nerdy friends, How to rock awesome cosplay, How to write fanfic with feels, How to defeat Internet trolls, How to attend your first con, And more! Plus, insightful interviews with fangirl faves, like Jane Espenson, Erin Morgenstern, Kate Beaton, Ashley Eckstein, Laura Vandervoort, Beth Revis, Kate Leth, and many others.
6. Etude House BeBe Foot Mask (Foot Peeling) @ Amazon – $9.80
Ok, this one is kinda gross, but I am obsessed. My brother in-law got me one of these for Christmas, and now I honestly can’t live without them. I am not the type of girl who pampers herself very much. But this is one luxury I do like to indulge once a month (or every other month). Basically, they’re these little booties filled with some sort of mixture. You put them on your feet, sit back, relax, watch a movie for about 90 minutes, drink a glass of wine, then wash your feet. Within a few days, your feet will start to peel like mad, which is kinda gross but oddly satisfying. But when the peeling is done, your feel are so soft, so smooth.. like, I’m talking $100 pedicure nice!
There are several different brands, I just get this type because its what comes up first on amazon. It’s kind of confusing the first time, I recommend looking up the instructions on YouTube, there’s some good ones on there.
7. Borderlands The Presequel Wraps @ Espionage Cosmetics – $12.00
I totally have the worst nails in the world, like I said earlier, I’m not a girl who pampers herself much. But I’ve been crushing on these since January.. so I think I’ll have to go get a manicure (something I haven’t done since the day before my wedding almost 3 years ago), and then apply them. Because it’d be a waste to put them on my nails in their current state.
9. CanCon LA Tickets! – $25.00
It’s like Comic Con, but for cats!! Omg I am so excited for this one! Didn’t think I would be able to go to this at first, but luckily my friends Tammy and Ashley are just as excited to go as I am!
What I’m eyeing for future purchases? Here’s a few things…
- A Han Solo Costume dress from Her Universe
- Castiel Dress from Hot Topic
- Doctor Who Hobo Bag (I have the Supernatural one, and I love it – I’ve used it so much, it’s gotten pretty ratty.. but it’s honestly the best purse I’ve ever had)
- Vault Hunter Bundle from Espionage Cosmetics
- The Salt and Burn board game by Unicorn Empire Prints
- TARDI SPRINKLES!! By Geeky Hostess
