5. Thelma Bates – Hex
Ok, so this reference is about 10 years old now. But when I first started watching Hex (a BBC show about witches, and ghosts and paranormal things), I was totally drawn in by Jemima Rooper’s character, Thelma. She was quirky and feisty, and didn’t care what people thought of her. She never did anything just because everyone else was. I also totally loved her hair and way she dressed. Basically, I wanted to be her. She was all over my Livejournal back when I would update it. Haha.
4. Donna Noble – Doctor Who
From what I gather, Donna Noble was most people’s least favorite companion. But for me, she was my favorite. She was sassy, funny, loud and didn’t let anyone tell her what to do! She’s the only companion who wasn’t all googly eyes over the Doctor, and I never saw her as helpless. She didn’t sit around and wait for the Doctor to come back to her after her wedding, she went out on her own to try and find answers. Also, DOCTOR!DONNA!
3. Claudia Donovan – Warehouse 13
Honestly, I think the title of this article should be “I identify with quirky, sassy, independent women”. Claudia is another one of those women that fits perfectly into characters I totally identify with. Another character who is smart, strong and has a really fun sense of style. She does things her own way, and will stop at nothing to protect the people she cares about. Also, she’s a giant geek like myself.
2. Mindy Lahiri – The Mindy Project
Mindy is everything I want to be! Her self-confidence, and quick whit. The fact that she knows she’s the coolest person you will ever meet, and to deny that would just mean you are wrong. She doesn’t hide who she is, in fact, she flaunts it, and I love her for that.
1. Liz Lemon – 30 Rock
Liz Lemon is adult me. Everything from singing songs while eating her night cheese, to eating burritos in her wedding dress, and using her socks as napkins. She calls to me with her love for staying in and fear of youths, he love of food and being a nerd. Her awkward confidence and whit inspire me! I love Liz Lemon.
